Introduction to Accelerated Learning as an Instructional Strategy
This workshop demonstrates the power of the multi-faceted human brain and how to tap into its unused potential and discover more of our inherent genius ability. Many elements of Accelerated Learning will be explored along with experiential exercises, such as Brain Gym exercises, and the use of classical as new learning aids. This program is designed to help students focus on assignments, improve memory and comprehension.
Workshop Objectives:
- Develop a basic understanding of our brain and its functions
- Overview of Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences
- Discover your personal preferred learning style
- Learn to activate your brain by making learning a fun filled experience
- Understand ourselves, understand and appreciate others, create harmonious learning and working environments
Workshop Outline:
- Overview of the brain and its hemispheres, facets and functions
- Our Multiple intelligences and how to activate them for improved learning
- Story and metaphor as learning tools
- The power of suggestion – what we tell ourselves about ourselves as learners
- Stress shuts learning down and physiology affects learning outcomes. How to control your state of mind and body for maximum results
- Games, experiential exercises and music designed to create a love for life long learning
Materials: All materials are supplied by instructor.
Participation: To gain the intended benefits, full participation in all exercises, a positive attitude and open mind are required.
Workshop Format: This course is typically delivered as a full day workshop for either students or staff development. The mini workshop format can be condensed down to a one hour or 90 minute presentation and provides limited elements of the expanded course.
